Smartphones are great, especially ones that can mimic your laptop nowadays. However, the reality is that their OEM battery life stinks. This is not the battery’s fault. It’s the result of all those great features and apps on your phone that are making it go down fast. Here’s a look at the top 3 smartphones that can drain your battery life fast!
#1 The RIM BlackBerry Storm comes with an approximate battery life of up to 15 days in standby time. That’s technically speaking.

However, actual device users are really frustrated by the low battery capacity. Even when fully charged, the Storm’s battery runs out of juice faster than any one can expect with light usage for things like email, Messenger and MP3. Carrying a spare battery or charger has never been more of a necessity! There are even others who complain of the device becoming too hot to handle after a charge.
One thing is for sure… the new BlackBerry Storm seems to require more charging breaks than any of the other BlackBerry devices on the market. But, this is to be expected from a powerful device that can perform many features parallel to a laptop.
#2 Another device causing battery woes is the Palm Treo 800w. A little extra usage like Direct Push or Wi-Fi will leave the Treo gasping for breath, literally. If you want to make full use of the device then keep chargers around where ever you go. Another alternative is to buy an extended battery which will make the device bulky but render if for longer usage. The Palm Treo 800w is a feature-rich device whose battery power is not up to mark, unfortunately.

#3 Finally, the king of all smartphones causing battery woes, the T-Mobile’s G1 requires constant charging. This phone is not for the faint of heart. And many users have resorted to constant charging via a car charger and/or getting an extended battery. The much-awaited Cupcake Update should alleviate some of these issues as per Android development team but that remains to be seen. And the expected updates for stereo Bluetooth and video recording will surely need more battery power as not sure as to how it’s all going to balance out!

Bottom line is in today’s world you need a smartphone so it’s best to get over it and get your self some extra chargers and spare batteries to keep on hand. The more features a device has to offer, more power it will need, goes the old, nay new saying.
