Fommy Product Review:
The BlackBerry Bluetooth Headset 655+ delivers excellent quality audio from a manufacturer who continually delivers high quality products.
First, I thought I would revisit something a bit odd first: the charger. It comes with a razor style wall charger (very nice inclusion) that connects to the cradle. Unlike most cradles, it isn't a pain, in fact, I think it actually makes the headset more convenient. Instead of being a box with a cover or something, it instead is shaped like a typical wide pen, including a very handy typical pen-style clip. You simply slide the headset into the top of it and then you can clip it on your shirt or inside your briefcase or bag. While it's fairly wide, it’s only a few inches long, so it shouldn't be terribly inconvenient to fit somewhere.
The headset is also extremely comfortable, the ergonomically shaped ear cover being made out of a transparent, soft material that still manages to grip my ear well enough to stay in place but not be uncomfortable. If you happen to have some odd size ears, it does come with two additional earbud covers, one small and one large and I'm confident one of the three will fit you perfectly. The unit can stay in your ear all by itself, but for extra security you can use the included ear loop if you're taking a jog or something.
The design is very sleek and quite small. It manages to cram three buttons on the surface without taking too much away from the aesthetics. With these three buttons you have access to your volume controls, redialing, voice dialing and mute.
Last, but certainly not least, is the audio quality. I was extremely impressed, the audio quality was perfect. Not only could I understand the other person perfectly, but they could hear me perfectly as well. No echo, no tunnel like effect, no nothing but my normal voice. For added security the unit also features a very nice 128 bit encryption signal, perfect for the security conscious person who doesn't want anyone snooping on their calls.
The only real downside of this device that I could fabricate is the battery life, weighing in at only 3 hours of talk time and 80 hours of standby; an area that could definitely use a little improvement.
This headset is frankly, fantastic. It's amazing comfortable, stays in place without an ear hook and delivers excellent incoming and outgoing audio. Even though I'm not usually a fan of cradles, I really think it did those one right with a very convenient design. The only downside is the battery life and price, but you definitely get what you pay for with this model.
